Strawberry Season Has Begun!
We will officially start picking Strawberries on Saturday, June 14, but PLEASE CALL in advance to make sure the berries are ripe and ready for pickin'! Visit our Harvest Calendar for picking dates throughout the season or call 585-682-5569.
Strawberries are our first fruit of the year here at Brown's and what a better way to kick off the summer than to get outside with family and friends and Pick-Your-Own Strawberries!
Besides all of the fun of grabbing a wagon and taking a walk down the lane to the patch and filling your basket with fresh, ripe, juicy strawberries, it is great exercise and family time together!
Fresh picked berries will also be available to purchase in our store. With the fresh berries you pick you can enjoy strawberry shortcake with the fresh baked shortcakes you'll find in our store! Or you can use your berries in a variety of delicious desserts, such as the Brown family's summer favorite Strawberry Pretzel Salad. (See the recipe below.)
Not only are strawberries a fun and delicious snack, but they are good for you too! 1 cup of strawberries provides 140 percent of your recommended daily allowance of vitamin C! This delicious fruit is also packed with flavonoids that help reduce "bad" (LDL) cholesterol.
